We hope you were able to attend the debate last Saturday evening between Executive Director Wylie Pirkle, representing AMWA, and City Councilman Aubrey Jones, representing the City of Athens. We believe it was a worthwhile evening and truly hope that it helped citizens of Athens, and Lake Athens property owners alike, to become more informed on this conflict. We want to offer our sincere thanks to Kyle Henderson, Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church, for doing such an excellent job moderating the event.

Knowing that not all of our members would be able to attend the debate in person, we reached out to Michael V. Hannigan, journalist and editor of Henderson County Now, and he came through with even more than we had hoped for. Not only did Michael attend the debate and write an article for Henderson County Now, but he also brought his podcast recording equipment and recorded the event in its entirety. Many thanks to Michael!

So, for those of you who were not able to attend the debate in person, you can read Michael’s article and listen to the podcast here, or just listen to the podcast below. Please take the time to listen to the podcast, become more informed and, if eligible, vote for the party of your choice. We also encourage you to share these links with any eligible voters in Athens that you know.
